The quickest egg sandwich (ever)

Hey, it’s Kailun! Eggs are a total staple item in my fridge. They’re cheap, flavourful AND a good source of protein. While eggs are probably best known as a friend of breakfast, they also make for a solid satiating snack (an SSS… maybe we should make this a new acronym on our blog… Liz???). Perfect for when you need something ~more~ in between meals.

Liz and I know that when you want a snack, you don’t want to put in a ton of effort. Well, at least we don’t. One of the biggest themes we wanted The Bite to take was providing snack ideas that deviated from the typical items in the snack aisle at the grocery store. We wanted to provide options that weren’t boring, but also weren’t fussy.

Today’s recipe is an egg sandwich that takes a total of 1 minutes and 13 seconds to make – we timed it! My mom showed me the star feature of this recipe – how to make an egg in the microwave. I won’t go into the details and tell you all about my mom or something because to be honest, I usually scroll past all that stuff when I’m looking at food blogs myself. I just don’t need a six paragraph prelude to every recipe! So, I guess without further adieu, the quickest egg sandwich (ever).

Egg Sandwich
Prep time: 1 minute and 13 seconds

Ingredients
1 english muffin (or even two pieces of toast will work)
1 egg
Ground pepper
Cheese
Ketchup

Directions
1. Put english muffin into toaster.
2. Crack egg into a mug, whisk it with a fork, grind on some pepper and pop into the microwave for 45 seconds. The circumference of the bottom of your mug will make a perfect shape/size for your english muffin.
3. When your english muffin and egg are done, put the egg onto the muffin, throw some cheese and ketchup on and you’re done – the cheese will melt from the heat of the egg!

Want to jazz things up a bit? Here are some ideas.
Cut up some tomato for it or use some salsa.
Use sriracha.
Use mayonnaise.
